Hi all.

Was able to get out for half the day, so checked out a depression in the ground near an old stone home, so after about an hour of some wheat's and other miss stuff I hit a signal bouncing all over the place just going nuts.
Well after digging about 10 to 13in hit an old tin can no markings but inside was a rag and in the rag some coins.
Cool day, will return there soon o yea found my first 1943 steal over the weekend witch i will add a pic soon....

Really cool. Where they all in the same can?

Great find! Congrads I'm sure there's more to come....

Very cool! Were they all in the can together?

Gotta luv it when someone finds something cool and posts the bare minimum text to go with it! OK, I'll bite where's a pic of the can, the rag, and the contents?? :occasion18:

Geez, your Indians look brand new! Mine come out looking like crud most of the time, lol. That would be a good hunt, IMO ;)

I would live to see a picture of them and the can that's a nice find

Dig until your arm falls off

Looks like a really nice haul!! CONGRATS

SWEET!!!! CONGRATS!!

nice finds congrats HH

That is just awesome! Looks like the most recent is about 1946. You know, the kid was probably just imitating his parents. I'd look for more!! There was somebody else who found a tin can bank along a river awhile back. It just looked like some rubbish. Anyway, I just love the oldies. It makes me all sentimental!! Congratulations!

Thanks

Hello all.
The rag is in the garbage but I do have the can still lol I knew some one would ask, I will post pic of can as soon as I close up the bar, and yes all the coins where in the can. The most I can tell must have been an old sardine type cane not round but oblong and shallow.
Like I stated there where some wheat's also but common dates 1920 to 1930....
P.S. Before anyone asks about the 50 reis I live in New Bedford we find old coins from around the world in our area, we were the largest Whaling port in North America.

Congratulations on a great find. It would have been easy to pass up a crazy signal like that as just a piece of junk.

Awesome little cache CMA! Good eye spotting that depression and following the lead. Congrats.

Wow - that is something you dream about finding cmaracing.

Really awesome finds! The 50 Reis coin is Portuguese. How do I know? Well I'm Portuguese! Lol and looking at it what is says is king of port. (portugal) and alg. (algarve) the southern part of the country was considered an annexed territory since it was occupied in the early 12th century by the moors. In terms of value one sold on eBay for 38$ plus 5 shipping. But the one sold there was in slightly worse condition. In terms of rarity, it's not a rare coin by any means. Desirable still! In terms of Portuguese history is a fairly "new" coin.

Portuguese and Louisville regards!
Happy hunting!

Cma, great finds. Love that old Portuguese coin. What size is it? 90% silver?

Hi Mercury1,
Yes 90% silver a bit smaller than a dime...
