Thimbles with crowns that have no indentations ('tonsured' thimbles)--like yours-- date prior to A.D. 1650.

Hi Cru, tooth brush under tap. Dried it, dipped it in cooking oil, for an hour. Finally, dried it using hair dryer. This method is very fast, and effective.

Cheers Don, true some age to this find. A thimble of a peasant. Lost around seven centuries ago.
