tiny 'W' medallion?

this is one of the items that was found while sifting. Was wondering if anyone ever came across something similiar and can help me ID what it is or was part of. Found with a few buttons and suspender straps and buckles and of course plenty of square nails. I figure based on the site that it dates from mid to late 1800's or early 1900's.

Any ideas?

Thanks

No idea... nice find though :) Does it look like it was welded or brazed to anything? Like, could it be the initial from the front of a watch fob or key chain?
