Read all the history you can find of the area you want to hunt, study old maps , talk to the ole timers about where they use to hang out, that's a good start :icon_thumleft:

Are you using a metal detector? Inorder to find stuff, you have to hunt where people have been for a long period of time, such as a farm or go to a place where large groups of people gather for a short period of time such as a park for a festival. The older the property the older the relics.

I'm still very new at treasure hunting. If anyone could give me any advice as to spots, locations, geography or landmarks I should be searching near, I'd greatly appreciate it!

What part of Deleware are you in?

WHEN YOURE BORED SIT DOWN AND USE GOOGLE - PUT IN ANY TOWN(S) NEAR YOU - LOOK UP
OLD PARKS - OLD SCHOOLS - CELLAR HOLES - BATTLE FIELDS - OLD FORTS - MILLS - PICNIC GROUNDS -ETC
EVEN IF HISTORICAL SPOTS ARE OFF LIMITS - YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET PERMISSION TO SPOTS SURROUNDING THEM
LOOK FOR PRIVATELY OWNED FARM FIELDS NEAR BATTLE SITES AND FORTS - OLD FERRY CROSSINGS ETC
DO SOME DOOR KNOCKING - ALWAYS GET PERMISSION
DO ANY FAMILY OR FRIENDS OWN AN OLD HOUSE? HOW ABOUT CO-WORKERS?
BARNES AND NOBLES USUALLY HAVE A SECTION WITH TOWN BOOKS - COMPANY CALLED
ARCADIA PUBLISHING PUTS OUT AN AWESOME LINE OF BOOKS FOR MOST STATES

YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIND THEM IN YOUR LIBRARY TOO
WALK INTO OLD HISTORICAL SOCIETIES IN TOWNS AROUND YOU - ASK THEM IF THERE ARE SPOTS THEY MAY KNOW YOU COULD TRY - DONT BE AFFRAID TO OFFER A HAND AND FIND STUFF TO DONATE FROM OLD SPOTS - IT WILL OPEN MORE DOORS FOR YOU
IVE DONATED OLD POTTERY SHARDS AND PIPE STEMS FROM COLONIAL FIELDS ALONG WITH SOME OLD FLAT BUTTONS AND MUSKETBALLS
TO A FEW SMALL TOWN MUSEUMS AND HISTORICAL SOCIETIES - ASK ANY OLDER RELATIVES IF THEY CAN THINK OF ANY OLD SPOTS FOR YOU
