I must start off by thanking my hosts, EastCoastHunter21, Scrappy, Bartek and Treblehunter. Spending time with like minded gentlemen of integrity is what it's all about.

Smittyman and I set off early last Friday and drove to NYC. It took 15 hours due to traffic, that was the low point of the trip, thank God!

Day 1:
The *******s of Bramble earned that name. We set off for the colonial woods bright and early. I staggered through the woods for half a day, way out of my element and very uncomfortable. Locodigger seemed to have to no issues with it though.

Someone arrived with sandwiches, drinks & chips... and a little picnic broke out! That's about 1300 Lbs. of Tnetters!

After lunch, I felt a little better about the woods, other people were finding things, so Treblehunter and I picked up the pace and headed for a spot "deep" in the back of the property, where it was rumored goodies might be lurking. After kicking sticks out of the way for an hour or so, I got a terrible signal... it's a dig it all type place, so I dug it up. Obviously another piece of trash.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a 1 real Spanish silver, folded in half! Right down the center, perhaps they were attempting to cut it in half for change.

I got all shaky and squirrelly, Treblehunter was laughing at me. I found my first Spanish silver! Yeah, it's all janky, but I don't care, so am I! Achieving my goal on the first day was just awesome... Thanks Charlie.

Eastcoasthunter had us over for a cookout afterwards, the food and company were unparalleled.

Day 2:
Scrappy took us to the park! Whew, no brambles. Treblehunter, Locodigger, Smittyman and I were in for a little MDING magic show, we won't soon forget. Scrappy got more, bigger and better stuff than the 4 of us combined! He is an ANIMAL.

One of my favorite sights...

My best coins for the day were '07 Barber dime some kid tried to hole with a square nail and a 2 cent piece.

Here is a pic of everyone's (read: mostly Scrappy's) finds form the morning hunt. A bit more came in the afternoon, but you get the idea.

Day 3:
Back to the woods. This motley crew assembly early for a jaunt through the sticker bushes! L to R: Smittyman, Loco, Bartek, Eastcoasthunter21 and I.

It wasn't long until Bartek scored a KG.

At the last spot of the day, I was rewarded with a KG for my efforts.

I gained a whole new appreciation for woods hunting. And managed to locate that Spanish silver that has eluded me for 3.5 years. I will remember this for the rest of my life!

Thanks for looking, and best of luck on your hunts!

Nice vac hunt congrats on your finds, maybe one of theses days I'll make if back east

Congrats on your first Spanish silver. Looked like a great time.

Wow Tom, what a good post. Congrats on your adventure, your finds, and especially your coveted Spanish silver!!

Thanks JC. It was very tough on an old man, but well worth it!

Tom, that's a great post and some nice finds brother! Thanks for the southern smoked squirrel, that made our BBQ special! You definitely earned a bramble patch for your efforts! Waiting for part two of your post!

Sounds like the company you kept for the three days was just as much enjoyment as digging Spanish silver. Combine the two.....priceless!

Nice part one, I'm still hurting from that first day. I almost feel bad for those NY guts having to climb those hills and scratch there way through briers. I forgot to tell them I had to stop by the hospital to get some blood to replenish what I had lost in those "Blair Witch Woods". Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I'm just more accustomed to "golf course country club" environments. In other words, I'm a spoiled brat.
It was great seeing you guys and the rest of those hard core hunters of the north witch woods.
I'm looking forward to part Two (that's me right?)

I noticed a bunch of bears hiding behind those trees--

no way they was gonna' mess with youse bad a$$es

also obvious lookin' at the sloped yard where y'all had walked-- ground was squished there--

some major a$$ kickin' got done to that dirt---no treasures left behind :icon_thumleft::icon_thumright::occasion18:

Congrats on your finds and thanks for sharing

Congrats on a much deserved Spanish silver coin! Great post, great hunting man!

Hey Tom, another big congrats on that folded spanish silver. :occasion14: It was a great time, I feel that in future hunts I need to stay in front of Scrappy, man he has a nose for where the keeper coins are buried. I also found that if I went in the opposite direction from where Charlie told me to dig I did better. It was a bucket lister day for three of us for sure. Looking forward to hunting with everyone again in the future. I'm back in Ohio trying to get excited digging a silver quarter, but it is not the same after digging in the east and pulling the older stuff.

I forgot to ask, who took the pic of all the XP Deus's, man we were loaded for bear in the woods.

Great read and sounds like an Awesome time!! Congrats on your first Spanish silver and other finds. I really like the look of the barbers, always a good dug when you dig a barber. I got some old Spanish silver but, still looking for my first 2 center.

Nice job Tom!! Congratulations on some first. Sounds like you folks had a wonderful time. That's truly what it's all about.

Man, that's a lot of overpriced detectors in one photo!! [emoji12]. Very cool real bent in half. You guys killed it and I agree with you, woods hunting is a different animal.

Looks like a blast was had!!! Looking forward to part 2 :)

Great post Tom! I'll be able to use it to refresh my fading memory! Congrats again on all those great finds!

I'm sorry I couldn't make it for much more than an hour on Saturday, but I'm glad I got to see you holding your first Spanish silver. Sunday was a great hunt as well. I was hoping there would be more old and less new, but them's the breaks of detecting. Either way it was a blast seeing everyone. Thanks for the hospitality you brought up, and how about that BBQ? Your squirrel was spectacular and Bart's famous chicken was other-worldly. The BBQ at Charlie's house was my favorite - good laughs and good friends.

Great post Tom and a huge congrats on your first Spanish Silver. :occasion14: That looks like a ton of fun with a great group of buddies. I got a sneak peek of your part 2 find, so I cant wait for that post. Great job man.
