Found a site that lists all (or some) of the historic schools in Kane county with their Latitudes and Longitudes. Some are now farm land, some are parks, some are neighborhoods. Do me a favor, if you didnt know about this site and you go out to hit one of these spots, at least think about sending me an invite.

Thanks

I am within two miles of a bunch of those. They also show up on the atlases of the day, on the county genweb site.

But wait, there's more!

The ones along major roadways such as Randall, Route 31, the tollway, are buried under the asphalt these days. So going Garmin hunting for one of these might lead to confusion, if it happens to be in the right turn lane on Randall Road or an exit ramp onto 31 from the tollway.

But hey, if you get the okay to hunt one of these, lemme know!

Good list there Marvin. I looked up all the schools listed as Geneva which also includes schools around the St. Charles area. All of them are subdivisions or parking lots now with the exception of a couple that are county forest preserves. Might have some luck in the preserves but I am not sure if it is outlawed there. It's pretty sad how urban sprawl is ruining our hobby and wiping out history. My whole area where I grew up along Randall Rd was all farms and woods to play in as a kid... now its all Targets and Best Buys.

Great site Marvin. Thanks for the tip.

Never spent much time around Kaneville. Would like to hit up some of the Big Rock and Kaneville area one of these days.

I think most early folks came from Vermont about 1830s or so.

Imagine that it was very nice then.
