2 bits of advice:

1. Get rid of the gas guzzler you are driving, that way you don't have to dump so heavy at one place.
Seriously!
2. yes, I saw you at the TD and gave you some advice....take it!

Now for the common sense poll, let's just see how many members agree with me. Here is the scenario:

Dumper is at a TD with a machine that stops each $100. He brings 1 huge canvas bag of halves and dumps. Meanwhile 3 other people are waiting to use the machine. There is 1 teller behind the line helping people, and 1 at the machine. The line is about 6-8 customers deep. People are getting ticked at waiting. The teller changing the bags is very obviously annoyed at how much this guy is dumping. This "dumper" not only finishes his bag, but then, while everyone else in line is waiting, goes out to his "large vehicle" and gets another huge canvas bag. I am not sure how many bags he dumped, because I left with my much smaller dump. I was not going to dump on these poor tellers in light of this nonsense. All the folks with small change waiting for the machine left, too.

Now, I know for a fact that there have been complaints about this individual before at other branches of TD. Specifically, at least 2 have cut him off altogether due to his excessive dumping.
He obviously does not care as he just moves on to the next branch and continues to dump the same amount there.....I guess until they cut him off there as well.

(Possibly unrelated-I was at another branch of a different bank and the Manager came out and told me about an individual that he closed his account and told him to not come back anymore due to excessive dumping as well. I have no idea if this is the same individual, but this is what it is coming to-very quickly. DC area dumpers better start using more common sense. I for 1 am getting tired of banks shutting off the dumping due to the abusers. What will it take-ALL of the banks cutting everyone (including you) off???)

Now, am I just being picky here, or does this individual need to wise up about dumping habits???

I wouldn't say your being picky, that's kinda rediculous to dump so much at once. Hell, teller around here won't let me dump $100 in halves... God knows how he's getting away with quantity.

Wow that is obscene. I am nice to my tellers and they provide me with the tamper proof bags and let me bring them back all sealed up and ready to go to the armored car man. Let them know what you are doing!!! Be nice, and ask them how their day is and they will care about how your day is.

Hmm, I'll up the happy a little. Too much more and id just be being cheesy!

This guy is a real dh. The bank has every right to ban him, people like this ruin it for everyone

I am in the DMV area and havent dumped at a TD before, the banks i use fill up at $500, and no you are not off base in any way. Usually if i start dumping say...500-1000 and I am like 50 bucks in and I see someone walk in to use the machine with a little bit of coin, I scoop up all the coins on the tray and let the machine eat up whatever is in the hopper. Then I print a receipt and let that person go real quick. Also if theres a huge line, I will either just walk out or dump a small amount if I need to flip the coins to some cash ASAP. Anyways that guy sounds like a dbag and not for reasons of him potentially ruining it for the rest of us, but simply being that ignorant with the bank and its employees.

If hes doing just a few boxes hes just lazy. If hes doing 20 to 50 boxes hes going to have a hard time dumping. Unless some banks take a lot!! I do ?? 35 to 60 boxes and had to start doing bag drop off its fast and easy! I can do 80 boxes so easy.I still pick up at a lot of banks. It works for me. The drop off saved me many hours a week! I now have 3 banks to drop off.

I'm surprising the machine didn't get jammed up with that large amount. My suggestion is to roll them up, bring them in 2 full boxes at a time every week. They will eventually give you bags. Could be a bit awkward but that's what happened to me. I personally hate using over- used coin machines in the area. They were not reliable / available most of the time.

Dumping in the DC area is simple. There are 100s of banks all competing for customers. It is not hard to find a nice coin counter, a friendly teller, or someone willing to help!

I do lots of boxes / week and havent used a TD machine in probably 3 months-

New member here, Lurking since way before many in this section joined. Been CRHing for a little under a year and would have to say it depends on the bank. My TD loves me. They will see me park and open up the machine before I even get in the door, assistant manager will often even reset the bag fill to $500 for me. The bags will fill at $100 and they can simply put a large bag in the chute, open and close the chute to reset the fill count and the next $100 goes in the same bag. I generally do $1500 in one stop with them one time per week. Im in and out in under 10 minutes. Never heard a complaint and the ladies will even flirt with me and chat while I dump. Wouldnt try this at another branch but Ive worked this relationship to this point. I ask everytime if I need to cut back or do less at a time.

For those of you not using TD Im assuming you are doing bag drops at BOA or using BB&T?

I just re-roll the damn things in the rolls they came and drop off the full boxes two at a time, once per bank per week. I've gotten pretty quick at it!

that sucks the guy is doing that. hopefully he does not ruin it for everyone down your way. I do have to say that td bank having there machines set at a 100$ in halves is a bit ridiculous. When they pull the bag out there is hardly anything in there. I would think it takes more time for them to open 5 100$ bags than it would to open 1 500$ bag. Luckily 3 td banks that are close by have there machines set at 500$. I do 350$ worth each time as long as they are not busy just incase the bag does fill up. Its important to know your area as well. Around here between 9 am and 11 am banks are empty. I also have banks that would rather have there halves rolled up and in the same box i got them in. They wont take them any other way.

Do you put squiggles on the rolls? Cause I might just hate you....

The TD Banks I visit in Maryland are set to $100 for halves. The TDs in Virginia are set to $500. I haven't been to a TD in DC yet.
And I feel your frustration sack0silver. There's a couple of banks I visit and when I ask for halves and they say they have $500 (not in a box) I know it's someone's dump. Only time I've found silver is when they have like two rolls or just a few loose ones.

Nope! haha I know what you mean though, I've accepted boxes from banks that were rolled in the same way I dropped off, obviously assuming they're skunks, which they always turn out to be. you never know though! Nothing screams searched halves like halves re-rolled in the paper they came in

I've heard a lot of people say that the coin counters they use only go to $100 per bag and some go to $500 per bag. The two I use in my dump run are $500 per bag and $1000 per bag. I would be so ****ed if the bag filled at $100 haha.

My TD told me they would set it to $500 a bag for me if the machine was set up differently. If it gets about $100 in it then it blocks the reject tube and after $200 it usually pulls itself off. Just as fast for them to open the machine, put a large bag in the tube and just open and close it at $100 increments until the bag gets to $500 then change bags. They prefer it this way and its just as fast. On a BUSY day I can be in and out doing a $1500 dump in no more than 10 minutes. Other branches I wouldnt attempt this.

TO SCOTNVAB Surprise, Surprise!!! I am the one you saw at the TD bank Branch and yes I had 2 bags, one with 1000 and one with 500. I caught your rude and snide comment as you stormed out of the bank, obviously upset that you had to wait a few minute to have your small bag counted. By the way, the 2'nd bag took less than 3 minutes to process, so I was probably finished counting before you figured out how to get out of the parking lot. I am sorry that you were inconvenienced and impatient, but all of us have had to wait at times to use these machines. The scenerio you described of irritated customers and tellers was in your imagination.

I have used that particular branch many times, usually several times a week. The people working there have all been very pleasant and cordial. The counter for the machine at that particular branch stops at every $100 for halves. When I first started using that branch , I would bring in 1 $500 bag. I asked them if they were ok with taking the halves and they told me they were glad to. I asked them if they had a limit as to how many I can bring in at a time and they told me that they had some customers that brought in $6000 at a time and if I wanted to bring in $2000 at a time, it was ok. I usually bring in $500 to $1500 at a time. Each time I come into the bank, they great me with a smile and frequently a handshake. One of the reps gets the key, opens up the machine and helps me with the counting. It usually goes smoothly and quickly. I have asked them about resetting the counter for the halfs from $100 to $500, and they said they would like to, but they don't know how to do it. It is a newer model machine and may not be as easy to reset as the older models.

I find your comments, while perhaps well intended, to be offensive, inaccurate and very self centered, as you had to wait a few minutes to use the machine. I apologize for taking up your time. Most of the times I use that branch there is hardly any other customers there at all. As I said earlier, If you had the patience to wait a few more minutes, the machine would have been yours to use. If you had asked, I also would have been glad to stop my count and let you run your coins through. Maybe next time you should try being a little more friendly and understanding.

I do a large number of boxes each week and use at least 4 TD Branches. Some I use for the coin machine and one branch provides me with the bags to send out for counting and deposit into my account. I have active, friendly relationships with each of those branches. Two other TD branches asked me not to use their machines for counting the halfs because they suspected that the halfs were causing the machines to act up. I don't use those branches for the halfs anymore. At every branch I have used, I have always taken the tact that they are doing me a favor and have tried to take up as little of their time as possible.

All that said, at times I have met other roll hunters at these machines and have had a nice time talking with them and comparing notes. In fact one of them, Riley Boy, led me to this site. We may very well meet at that branch again. If we do, I hope you will say "Hello" and maybe we can have a nice conversation about the hobby we both seem to like.
