I may get out once or twice more this year but not feeling well now so I dont know. 2018 has turned out to be my best year yet. Not in as far as the quantity of silver and gold but rather the quality. Knocked a bunch of really tough ones off my bucketlist too. Found some great relics as well.
Ended up with 7 complete colonial buckles most of which date no later than about 1720. Found some cool buttons including some early nipple and a cast lead example as well as a few 19th century military. Found a couple early coin/bullion weights as well. One of my favorite finds of the year was the 1794 Russian bale seal most likely used for flax(linen fibers). Gold items were a chunky 14k wedding band and gold cufflink thats likely around 200 years old
Found around 30 silvers hunting land this year( mostly Seated and Barbers including bucketlist Barber half) but got into water hunting this year and found around 20 silvers that way including some of my best ever. 1830 Capped bust dime was a big bucketlister but also found 8 Spanish in the water of which 6 were cobs. Found a rare nice condition copper in the water too(1771 KG III). Found a lot(dozens) of big coppers on land and water but all pretty much toasted. Finished with 12 Spanish silvers combined this year but my best three coin finds this year were my French Louis XIV 4 Sol from about 1675, my cut Pine Tree Shilling with most of the date and tree and my 1852 gold dollar. All three obvious bucketlisters.
Silver Totals
1 1652 Pine Tree Shilling
1 Louis XIV 4 sol
12 Spanish( 7 cobs, 1 milled pillar half real, 4 milled bust half reales)
2 Mexico Republic 1 reales
1 1830 Bust dime
2 1852 Trimes
10 Seated( 4 Dimes, 6 Half Dimes)
Around 20 Barbers, Walker, SLQs, GWs, Mercs and Rosies
Thanks for looking, Happy New Year and Happy hunting
