Hi all. Cjon455 and I got together for a trip north, almost to the New York border in search of some permission hunts. The first place was a bust....looked very nice but I think they had done some landscaping. 2nd place was great for me. I got permission and the very first target for me was a 1918 Standing Liberty Quarter ~ my very first one. Targets weren't very plentiful however. I did get my second English penny there. Is in pretty good shape. Only other finds were a bit of clad, a Medic Alert pendant for a diabetic and some miscellaneous bits. On the way home I got us permission at a very nice old farmhouse where I think I lost my SLQ! I remember taking the little round compact that I keep my silvers in when I find them out of my pouch and saying something to Chris about it. When I got home, it ( the compact with coin inside ) was no where to be found! At least I have a witness in Chris that I found one lol. Hope you all have better luck than I!

Darn, can you go back and look for it? How far of a drive is it?

It's a couple hours from me at least, lol. Wouldn't be worth it. Some days you're the bug!

That sucks Dave...but u did get to pull it out of the hole..Thats the best feeling.
Everything goes down hill from there..

I would go back for that...My buddy found a V Nickel once and gave it to my oldest boy (12) who was detecting with us, my son ended up losing it about 20 minutes later....Of course he was embarrassed and didnt tell me until the next day, but sure as shiii, we found it the next day in about 10 mins!

I'd go back and detect there some more!

Sorry to hear about your SLQ loss Dave! :sadsmiley:
But you found a large British Penny, that has to make up for losing it right... not! :censored:

I'm sure you'll find another one,
Dave

Thanks Dave. This one had very nice detail too! Would have been a little comfort if it had been a no-date, worn one, lol!

man dat blows!..i always catch myself feeling for my goodies while I'm detecting like a nervous twitch or something...that didn't sound rite did it?,lol

Some stuff just wants to stay lost. I have had it happen more than once.

Man, that has to hurt. Sorry you lost your cool find.

I dropped a small silver ring in the dark and thank God I had a detector with a good pinpointer or I would have been telling the same story you're telling. Since then they go on my key ring the minute I dig them. I have a key ring that won't tear them up at all. I hate the thought of losing anything after finding it.

Do you have any idea where it may be?? Can you go back with a detector and possibly find it by retracing your steps?? I really hope you can.

I have to say, congrats on your great find and condolences on your loss.

I keep tellin' ya and tellin' ya and tellin' ya! :dontknow:

I keeps pitchin' and you keep a missin' ! :'(

Man what a bummer, I checked my car 3x, trunk, seats, everywhere! I wish you were as fortunate as I was when you found my "re-lost" coin last week, if it makes ya feel any better, I saw it and it was really nice!
Next time bud, next time

It is what it is[emoji41] At least now I can look forward to my next silver first ~ a seated!

Congrats on the great finds! Sorry to hear about the SLQ- I'd be sick- literally....

OD, I really want to bust on you about this little situation, however, I will refrain from enjoying your misery, just this once.

My condolences on your loss.
