Hello everyone.. I had an absolutely amazing holiday and I hope everyone else did as well... My morning ended with the most meaningful gift I have ever been given (BY FAR).. Lost story short, I ask for silver every Christmas.. Mostly I continue to receive coins to fill dates in my collection, but today I was given a gift that has a much deeper meaning to me, more so than anything else I have been given before.. Today my Grandmother gave me my Great Grandfather's sterling silver cigarette case.. Words cannot describe how happy I was when she handed it down to me.. I know that it is most likely not extremely valuable, but obviously it is priceless to me since it is the only thing I now own that was my Great Grandfathers.. I am posting because the only thing I know about it is that it has the british sterling silver hallmark.. I was wondering if anyone on here knows any other information about it that they can give me, because she has no clue about where it was made or what it is worth.. Here are some photos of the hallmarks and the case.. I hope that everyone has had an amazing holiday with their families..

Really nice piece. Looking at hallmarks I think J. Gloster LTD., Birmingham, England sometime probably in the 1930's. Probably worth more than you think. Just saying...

Thank you so much for the response Austin .. I really appreciate it...

Nice engraving work. That is certainly a distinguished piece of silver.

Thanks.. I can't imagine how long it would have taken to produce it.. The only thing that strikes me as odd, is that it obviously wouldn't fit a normal size cigarette..

Most likely made for non filter cigarettes. It's a beautiful case!
