Today's Dimes, the quest continues

Did $750 in mixed CWR and MWR dimes today. Pretty happy with the results. Got 5 silver FDRs including a 1946 that I almost missed looking at the edges. It was tarnished, but I still caught it. I wonder if I miss any by edge searching.... Just can't imagine date checking 7,500 dimes a day... If the edge is dark or toned, I check them though. I'd say 1 out of 20 times these end up being silvers.

Anyways, I'm at 195 silver dimes year to date! I didn't think it would happen, but I just might make 200.

HH to all!!!!

There is nothing you could do to make me date search dimes.. I really can't imagine it would result in any more finds either.. You just have to look real closely.. I have oddly found many filthy dimes lately as well.. One that I found yesterday had a perfect layer of filth around the edge that made it look exactly like clad.. I still felt like it didn't look right so I checked the date.. Sure enough it was a 53.. From now on I will always double check a "questionable rim."

Way to go Numismaniac!! I hope you hit your goal, and ya, those edges can be very tricky, especially for me, and i hav 20/20 vision. I am sure we all missed a few, but thank goodness silver stands out(usually), unlike canadian coinage that has all silver colored rims!

I date-checked my first dime box...never again. Good tip on the dirty dimes though. Picking up 2 boxes tomorrow. I'll treat the dimes like I treat girls, double check the filthy ones.

I don't search them much, but I try and date search some rolls where I'm uncertain. That's how I found that 1982-S proof the other day.

You can just use a magnet on Canadian coins, just be wary that you have to separate them first, as some silver coins may be sticky, or just lodged in between two nickel coins.

How have I not thought of this?!?!? You've just changed the way I do dimes. I've been pulling all silver edges with eager anticipation...and usually a letdown.

Its not that big of a deal, unless you intend to wrap them back up? I can't see this saving that much time, if not adding time if you dump your coins in a machine/bag anyways dawg?
