Todays find, two large cents, one 1850, and the other one 1846. One Indian penny 1882. Old part of lantern pat July 12 1868, old cut out six point star, any ideals of what it could be. Plus a full harmonica, my first to be all there. Thanks for looking, and good luck, on your all next hunt!

Oh brother did you find the right spot!

I believe you dug a 8th corps insignia/badge/attachment :hello2:!
Civil War :headbang:
Killer find any day of the week!
A lot of times, the troops would fashion the insignia themselves. Whether being from coin/button or copper. Even if trench art, it's still a killer find.

The Eighth Corps proper was created by General Orders No. 84, July 22, 1862, which designated the troops under Major-General John E. Wool as the Eighth Corps. These forces were stationed in Maryland, at Annapolis, Baltimore, Harper's Ferry, along the Baltimore & Ohio R. R., east of Cumberland, and along the railroad from Harper's Ferry to Winchester, Va.

Here's where the fun begins.
Read this to teach your grand kids about the 8th corps
