So Friday we went back to the gas line dig. Thought I finally found a large cent! It was the right size and caked. Nope. But it is our oldest coin but not US. We have rarely found any US coins here and 2 French in one day. I found the 1855 Napoleon III and the 1941 franc and the 36 buff. Bob found the bus token (1936 era) and a neat Star lantern top (1880) and nice escutcheon plate. Today we went to our fav park. Had a little guy show up to "help" (much to the horror of his grandparents!) He was so excited that we found "silver" when I dug a poptab! Bet he's never seen a poptab! An hour before he showed up, I found a surface token that was gold and about half dollar size. While he helped Bob, I dropped it and kicked some dirt over it. I let him find it with my pinpointer. Oh gosh was he excited that he found gold!! And it had a horse!! He couldn't wait to show his Mom! The grands were very nice people. The rest of our finds was a nice IHP and a super cool cuff button Bob found that has a neat beach scene etching. Both pieces in the same hole and backs match. Wish we could find out more about it. Hope we find something cool tomorrow!! Hope you do too! Sorry for the long post.

neat finds and story, thanks. 1855 beats my oldest coin, wtg. Seems like interesting sites, good luck today

Hey, that was a great hunt back in June! :occasion14:
Just goes to prove, whenever soil is disturbed in an old part of town you never know what will pop up.

Love the early coinage. Is this actually a cuff-button or maybe a cuff-link, as it looks to be fairly old?

Thanks! Not sure but it does look quite old. I love the etching on the front. I can't figure what that back is. Letters or just a design? 🤷
