Me and my son hit an old park for a couple hours today. We managed $4.03 in clad, 6 wheats, a 57 rosie and to my suprise a 1908 IH penny. I did also remove trash targets and have been doing that there since I started back into detecting, in hopes of unmasking older targets on subsequent visits. The IH has convinced me even more to keep digging the trash out of there. I also found an old medal of some sort it appears to be very old and has an image of a shot-put athlete on it, il have to look into this a bit more, good luck everyone!

Nice!! Good to see the ATP doing its thing. HH

Doc

some great finds there

Good Hunt Fabbr!

I also use the AT Pro, so what did the IH show up as that makes you want to dig more trash? Or, are you just saying because you are clearing trash out of the way?

Shallow trash masks deep targets, I didn't dig a ton but I couldn't use pinpoint on the IH due to adjacent junk, if you plan on returning its in your best interest to get the shredded aluminum cans and misc trash out of there, the at is good but if there is surface trash it may mask older targets, if im finding clad, silver and IH's it makes sense to me to dig it. If I was just cherry picking I would have left it all, every target I presumed to be trash was trash. The IH was corroded bigtime, it bounced from 64-68 I hadn't seen a target in the area in that range and im glad I dug it

The IH is fairly corroded, wish me luck on the mint mark as this is a key date coin, as of right now im unable to tell

Ya, 64-68 is an odd number for a Penny!

Good Hunt Fabbr!

so what did the IH show ip as....?

I was going to ask the same question. 64-68 is in the older pop top range. I dread digging anything in this range tho i know i'm missing some gold and coins. The parks i dig are just so damn trashy.

Depth plays a role in your vdi, after 6 plus inches it becomes less and less reliable.8-)

I returned to the park today, well sort of. Off to the side inone of the less maintained areas, 5 cents sure isn't what it used to be...
