This was my first trip to a bottle dump so I was pretty excited. I've seen some glass you guys have that is absolutely beautiful.

I was so sad to see all of the broken bottles, the colors were amazing: green, blue, lavender, pink, turquoise, browns. wow.

I took a few intact ones, anyone have any ideas if there are worth anything? Also where would I find good sites or books to learn about bottle hunting and pricing them?

please enjoy the pictures.

the ones with writing are as follows:
clear bottle, Pabst Brewing Co. Beer, on other side Bottle not for sale
clear bottles (2), Lipps Chicago
small Green bottle, Palmer
clear and brown bottle, Henry C Duensinc, Chicago Heights, Illinois
brown bottle on bottom, A B Co
small squarish bottle clear, on both sides 2oz full measure

Thank you
Rumblebelly

also how do I clean the bottles on the inside? Is is safe to put in an automatic dishwasher?

RB,

Nice finds, love those old bottles. The green of the Palmer bottle is beautiful. As far as cleaning the inside, I have in the past used hot water/soap, sand and my special little gadget a piece of cloth wrapped around a bent metal clothes hanger. Someone here (in chat) mentioned about using a cut piece of soaped steel wool pad inside the bottle.

Depends on the size of the bottle...you have to be the judge as what to use. The dishwasher may be safe but I wouldn't trust it.

Other hints... http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,30757.0.html

Very nice old bottles, try a bottlebrush with a wire handle
for cleaning the insides, (warm soapy water), or like River Rat said, a wire coat hanger with a bit of cloth tied on,

Fossis..................

awesome,go find more of em. were they all on the surface or did you dig them up?

a little of both. I was using a big stick to move the leaves and broken glass pieces. I moved a little dirt, it was very red.

I'll go back with a rake or some weed tool of somesort that I have

Rumblebelly,

nice group of bottles, congrat on that first
dump.

Thanks for posting the photos.

Do get a bit sad :'( seeing all that broken glass.
But there always seems to be a few that survive
in good shape. ;D

Again, thanks for posting and hope you find a
bunch more.

Beautiful bottles! If the warm soap and water doesn't clean them enough, you could try CLR and a bottle brush on the inside and outside of them. Then if that doesn't work, try some Bon Ami (guaranteed not to scratch). I surely hope you will post "after" pictures for us.

make a simple bottle probe, your best chance, post more pics soon

Try CLR for cleaning. It stands for calcium lime and rust. Any hardware. that is a good aged dump. get all you can get. It looks like there is a lot of ash in it.
