Today's finds, help please! SE Tennessee



What could this be? Natural? It seems like it's been fire treated.. It's very smooth/polished on one side and the other side is rough...Thanks for the help!

Really cant tell on the first pic. May have been worked, But I do not see enough evidence to say one way or the other. The rock does look like it has been in a fire. but without context hard to say from what. Sorry not much help.

Okay first lets take "context", Was it found with other artifacts? Or was it an isolated find? That can be said for both. I have seen rocks that show that they have been in some type of fire. Like forest fires. then others that have been part of a hearth. still others found where heat treatment of lithics took place. ( still in place with the lithic treated. The other is tough. I have seen fractures such as I see in you pic's, Natural. The fact it has an edge could be nothing more than the way the rock fractured. Some stones need to be in hand to tell.
