Today's Hunt...4 more Silvers and GOLD
Well since my wife's in Vegas visiting her mom and grandma for Mother's Day, I decided to do a little detecting at an old parsonage that has all of the sod and topsoil stripped away
Here's a Sanborn Map Sheet with the parsonage:

I found 3 more IH's to add to the nice 1885 I found there the other day (1895, 1902, and 1906) and I also found Silver (1936 Merc and 1952-D Rosie)
I also found a NY coat button but it was CRUSHED
GRRRRR!!!
That's the 2nd NY Button I've ever found and they were BOTH smooshed!
The kicker came when I was hunting on top of the pile of topsoil and sod that was there. I got a weird signal and dug it since it was shallow. I found what I first thought was junk but it turned out being the top of a ring box. When I picked it up the bottom was there in the hole and I saw the glint of GOLD. It turned out to be a 10K ring with a very small diamond but was missing a larger marquise cut stone. I took the box home and carefully went through the dirt that was inside but no luck. I heard somewhere that an opal will decompose so maybe that was what was set in it which would explain the tiny diamond that was still set.

on the way home I hit an old schoolhouse for a few minutes and came up with more silver, a 1941-S Merc and a 1941 Canadian Dime.
All in all a pretty productive day.....no morels today though!
