Today's hunt

Went out for a couple of hours and found 2 wheat pennies 1939,1940 and a huge chunk of lead about 6" down in the ground. A top piece to a pocket watch and other odds and ends. The bullet shaped thing in the middle I am not sure what it is. Rang up between a penny and a dime but is light as carbon. Plus this ceramic piece it says:From Bull Battery. Pat'd 1909 Also got some good news last night I got permission to hunt a great CW place in Beverly, WV up by Rich Mtn. 2000 acre farm. Planning on going the Oct. 12th. CAN WAIT! Is that center piece an arrow tip perhaps? :icon_scratch:

I think it's possibly a piece of carbon from and old battery the may have some metallic properties in it. It is solid here are some pics

Neat finds! Congrats and HH!

Nice finds, good work digging them up.

60 plus years ago flashlight batteries would swell up, split open and ooze nasty stuff that would ruin the flash light. I remember the carbon center of the split open battery looked just like what you are showing.
