Today I went to a spot where they have been action happening from the early 1700s until the 1940s where they had an amusement park and now it’s just a beautiful reminder of our history. The thing you got a remember is the ground shows no mercy it’s got white shells, oyster shells with dirt mix then then you hit the bricks that they put down in the 30s for the amusement park. Many might no where I’m talking about, but it’s hard to get to the good stuff I have the best shovel made and it’ll crack through those bricks to get to what was underneath there in the 30s. I’ve been told Tulane went through it with a fine tooth comb well they were wrong. Which one would you dig? IMG_0216.webp
This is the trash I dig hard forIMG_0217.webp
And I’m going to reveal the goodness among all this crap. If you pick door number four you are right. A broken Trime. Being ADHD really helps me in these situations but it also hurts me because I spent another hour trying to find the missing piece LOL. No lie this was the first plug a dog within the first two minutesIMG_0219.webp

Is this what they call a blob top? IMG_0221.webp
And this might be my first official buckle just getting to it was taking massive hits including roots and I think I broke it. Let me know what you guys think.IMG_0223.webp

Thank you

P.S After further cleaning I believe I cut it which means I will be back there tomorrow trying to find it. Lol It was the only Trime made in New Orleans so that makes it a 1851 O – 720,000.IMG_0226.webp

I literally can’t wait till tomorrow

Cool finds. Looks like a shoe buckle frame to me, but I will leave that to the experts on this site to opine. Trimes are so small and elusive enough, let alone a partial coin. Congrats on a fine hunt.

This is actually the first “buckle” I’ve ever found that want a D buckle. I’m just hoping that someone can give me like a rough estimate of its age I just like knowing that LOLThanks lenmac75

The buckle is late 18th century (ca 1780) to maybe 1800 or so. By that time the fashions had changed. Judging by the manufacture, I'd say closer to 1780. NICE digs. It's too hot here.

Congrats on the nice finds...cool trime! :icon_thumleft:

Hey Smokey nice to hear from you yeah the only reason why I could take the spot it’s got like six 600-year-old Oaktree‘s. Smoky what would you do with the buckle if anything. I’ve cracked it while I was chopping through bricks. Would you wash it is it worth it or just leave it like it is. Should I use electrolysis. Or should I just enjoy the way it is. I appreciate your age in it for me this place was built in the late 1600s

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Truth, I like your avatar. It looks like you just got out of the shower after a 6 hr. hunt in 92° NOLA weather. Take care of yourself down there in the heat. Good luck on the trime fragment. Gary

Nice find Truth. Good luck on finding the remaining piece.

leave buckle as is - just clean the dirt off it - put in a display case with other finds from that area :icon_thumright:

Take a small brash brush to it with waer and then leave it. Electrolysis will eat it away fast.

Dig it all! nice find on the trime.

Thank Todd I can take heat we to Vegas and dry heat was refreshing. Everyday it a steam bath out here.

Wow Truth,, what an expedition,, you are definitely temperature tolerant. Congrats on the Trime.

Definitely a shoe buckle frame. You don't see many of those coming out of Louisiana.

Definitely a big congrats on the Trime. Good luck when you go back!

I'd rather find a chipped Trime than no Trime at all. 'grats.
