Todays Pewter... No marks....what is it?

Found at thrift today aswell.
Pretty shure this is Pewter.
Silver would be too good to be true.
Its not hallmarked eitherway...
Its soft. It thuds.
Its gots a curled rim on the base.?
Its tarnished weird
It looks cool

The bottom or bowl part is really shallow.
The top part is really tall.
I am about to start researching it. Wanted to share it with everyone. If some1 wanted to help.
I want to figure out what is on top. That looks like a corn cob?
What was it used for?
How old could it be?

Thanks. Still havent done much research into this one yet just a little. Thinking it may be for candy. Or sugar cubes. Or maybe something cooler. ? Its got a good look to it...
