Tombac button with fancy

My buddy found this button in a old farm field. It's larger than a quarter but smaller than a half dollar. He seems to think it may have some significance,possibly 1700's military but I'm not so sure. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Cant help you much other than it is not a 1700s Military button. (That I know of) Sheesh thats the problem with chatting with eggheads. You always have to add a disclaimer or an IMO

It looks like a 1770-1800 style civilian "dandy" button. Great find.
