That is a nice piece and very interesting, sadly it seem's like the best or the more interesting pieces are usually damaged or broken.

I always thought these curious inscriptions were a form of calender. Many show 12 notches (12 months) and then describe the equinox and soltice, but not by squares but by intersecting lines. Interestingly enough many of them add up to 180 days plus or minus a few. crackpot out...Click.

Very interesting theory Lostlake. I always had that as a theory also, but never added up any tallys or boxes! I really dont think the natives were just doodling on rocks! There is some purpose for the cross hatching seen on MANY upon MANY artifacts!lostlake88 said:

I agree there are things they marked that were not just for decoration, they had a purpose or meaning to them. I often look at pieces that have marks on them and wonder about what they mark's mean. That piece may be broken, But it is still a special piece. Because who ever owned that piece, put those markings on it for their own personal reason. That is a nice piece.

I agree with all of your comments as to the markings meaning something. It would be a good project for some archaeology student to do a dissertation on their meaning. Today with computers the info could be scanned or fed in and similarities compared and brought up as to their relationship with the calendar, seasons, equinox, etc. Could be some real interesting findings.
