Two of my friends each got the new Garrett Pro Pinpointers for Christmas. I was able to use one for a couple of hours. It didn't take long for me to feel spoiled. The depth of the new Garrett Pro made my Garrett pinpointer seem like a toy. I was due for a new pinpointer anyway since mine was just about worn out. They don't last long with me using them. Never had one last two years.
The only complaint I had about the Garrett Pro was the on/off button's a bit hard to push. It's not easy on old thumbs. They've redesignend it but they had to do so to make it waterproof.
So I watched some Youtube videos of various pinpointers and decided I'd try the TRX. The TRX is super deep. I haven't done a comparison test with the Garrett Pro but I think it's a tad deeper than the Pro which is what I want.
I do have a couple of complaints about the TRX. It doesn't fit right in my hand. I have to fumble around for the on/off button. The thing that annoyed me the most is the fact I had to ground balance it about every third time I used it because it would just give false signals everywhere i touched the ground. I don't think there's a pinpointer out there that will satisfy everyone.
The debth makes it all worth it though. I came across a tiny scratchy signal. I was at a place where the signals are far and few between so I dig everything. The ring was down about 6 inches. I don't think the TRX heard it at this point. I really don't remember. But once I removed a couple inches of dirt I had no problem finding it.
3 1/2 gold rings this year. I found one chopped in half by the lawn mower. This one is 10k with 18 diamonds.
