Reading Michigan Rob's post on Gunsmoke got me to thinking about the following. A few years ago I was the H. R. Director for an Indian Casino and one of my clerks was the tribal chairperson for a neighboring tribe. My brother sold her a metal detector. It was then that she told me the following. Her grandmother had told her that when she was very young the men would take the, Yellow money" and see how far they could throw it during the annual, "hand games" . Eventually it would all get lost in the bushes and the sand. A few weeks prior after a huge rain with moderate flooding one of the tribal members was walking his dog and found a $10 gold piece in the hand games area. That prompted the purchase of the metal detector. Of course we weren't ever allowed to metal detect the reservation. Have you ever been allowed to detect in an Indian reservation??

I'm making a statement that is not aimed at one person, but to all people living within a culture.

There are reasons why certain tribal rules have been established and are to be respected.

If a person does not have respect for those rules, then they have no personal respect for themselves or others.
