Tot lots???

Ok I see all of the great things people find on the "tot lots". I have been to almost everyone in our city and have found nothing save a little clad change. What am I doing wrong

You're probably not doing anything wrong. Tot Lots are self replenishing and you just have to hit it on the right day or find one that hasn't been hunted and good luck on that! I hunt a park near home abut twice a week. Several people have told me it is hunted out. But I have found gold and silver and a nice wristwatch that was and is still running. Monty

Agreed with what "Monty sez" I hunt woodchip playgrounds alot right now because the woods are all overgrown. You can make nice finds by being persistent, I go out every weekend and a few days during my lunchhour. Sooner or later the odds will be in your favor and the goods will shine through!!!! Good luck

I hit the tot lots regularly. You just have to be there at the right time. They are used everyday, which means everyday something new could be lost. Some days you draw a blank, other days you make a killing. Just don't give up. Also, look just on the outsides of the chip area (not in the chips), I sometimes find more there, I guess that's because the mothers stand out there while their kids play.

I hit them almost every day and I also do the elementary schools on the weekends and evenings. It's a matter of being there at the right time. I've got at least 2 other MD'ers in my small town so sometimes I get there first and sometimes I get nothing.

but a couple of examples of luck/persistence etc. A few weeks back I stopped at a local park that has two separate swing areas. I chose the one first because a park maintenance man was working on the other one. What do I see right on the ground but an 18" 14K gold chain that is now around my neck. Pure luck - if the maintenance man had been at that swing set I would never have found it.

then a couple of weeks ago I hit a park that was full of cents. I got 54 cents, 5 dimes and 1 nickel, but nothing else. That told me someone hunts this park but notches out cents. oh well.

Your most likely not doing anything wrong.

If there is nothing there, your not going to find anything.
If you dont get your coil over a target your not going to find it.

I hit the tot lots several times a week. Sometimes, I get lucky and find gold and silver, sometimes I find nothing but pennies, and many times I find lots of little holes telling me someone else beat me to it. Now I still look anyway, I have found rings and pendants that they missed.

Bad thing about down here is there are fences around all the school playgrounds and it is illegal to enter.
