I give up !!!! the Weather Won It Beat Me

Went out this morning engine barely turned then stopped & Clicked

Don’t know if just Frozen thick Oil,
Dead Battery (battery less then a year old), or Engine block radiator fluid froze.

Tooo cold to play around & have it freez again tomorrow


Hopefully when summer comes it can be fixed

Odds are its just the cheap batteries they make ....they get cold and lose there cranking amps...go back out when its warmed up some and it should turn over ....you should have a block heater on your truck/car if your living in the cold states plug them in for an hour or so and its just like starting it up in the summer time

I feel for ya... rained here for HOURS with the temp 25-32 today. Got my car stuck on ice. It's 70% across my dirt road sideways. NO MOVING IT AT ALL. Worse yet it's now pointed UP the ridge top road instead of DOWN. No wrecker service will even attempt to come up my ridge to help. Below freezing temps till Sat. with a high of 50 degrees. Not good enough for me. I need 4 tires and be ready to leave for MI. Sunday morning. Living on top of a steep ridge is cool until freezing rain comes. 2nd. time in 21 years for me.

Yea Tell me about it My car hasn't moved from its spot since about January 17th.
If I had tried to move it I'm sure I would have been sideways facing or with at least one wheel in a ditch.
I went out every day to start it to keep the Battery up.

Yesterday I went out twice Sun up & Sun Set
First thing this morning I found out that was a Waste of Time

I can call AAA But they stopped jumping Vehicles here .
They load them up and haul them to the Garage ,
so the Garage can charge ya .

Even So if they get it going, there is no Guarantee we wont get Colder temps next week.

as I said, I give up.
Either it will start this summer or the cold will Freeze the Antifreeze solid & destroy it in which case

I had a jug of antifreeze freeze here last year. & It's colder Longer this year.

when can we count on these Polar ice caps to start melting ?
and how can I hurry it along ?

I truly don't know Jeff... but if you saw where my car is right now a lot of folks would have a good laugh... Car stuck on sheet of ice... no temps higher than freezing for next 4-5 days. NOT A GOOD COMBINATION to say the least! Especially when you want to leave Sunday morning on a gambling get-away... of all places MICHIGAN!!!!!!!!!!

Im with ya Jeff... Im ready for spring. Just got done getting a new toy from Bart about 20 minutes ago. This helped my cabin fever and will give me something to play with and learn before the spring thaw...
I have a diesel and i plug it in. Brand new batteries (2, its a cummins), and she still growled just a little when she cranked this morning. I had -11 here where i am in the good ol' poconos....

Sorry Jeff. I expect my vehicle is going to start to at least minus 20 if it sits outdoors, and minus 30 if it is garaged. If it didn't, I'd either a get a new battery or a new car. I think you are better off though not starting it if you are not driving it. Just runs down the battery.

Cold and snow really sucks.

I played musical batteries one year in 40 below temps.
Failed.
A battery charger on trickle if battery is fully charged, and a trouble light,(old style with real bulb) hung near engine block with reasonable caution to avoid fire, can help. That year I brought a battery in the house each night for a week and guarded it like a momma hen.
Now I just park within reach of an extension cord and if a battery gets too cold just charge it a while, a hour at least, on 10 amps then switch it to engine start and start it up.
So far no need. Probably cause I'm expecting it. Been running below zero at night and multiple vehicles need running or charging now that I think of it.....

My battery wont start my car either and while the water pipes didn't freeze (we trickle when this cold) the in-pipe to HWH froze. Had to run kerosene heater in basement
till it thawed . I keep convincing myself if we get thru this week it'll be smooth sailing. (then next week I do the same)

Same here Jeff,, My Jeep gave a good 3 turns then the ominous clikclikclikclik,,,,

Wifes Jeep Wrangler,,,,same,,,,,

Our lil Escort,,,, BARELY turned,,, least that one fired up.

Thanks to some foresight I had bought one of those 1200 AMP jump-boxes,,,

5 minutes later all Jeeps were running.

That -5F with a WC of -25 kills all man.

Went out back and turned the key & my car started


A Bit snow-Blind at the moment needed sunglasses in the sun though.

& Probably dented my paint, using a screwdriver to chop 2" of ice
off the hood

25 Degrees f. felt like Spring

gonna feel like summer after Thursday.
I wonder if my car will start after that

may have to stay awake & start it every 5 hours
