I never thought about Hematite, I would save it's possible, it was 400yrd from the Ohio River, and the sand on the bank's are rich with Hematite and Magnatite
My wife is a very knowledgeable Gem club member in this area. It was her suggestion.. She says hematite is heavier than magnetite and your specimen is not magnetic so that rules out magnetite.

Nokta Makro Anfibio 20hz on deep mode. 24-26 inches deep. Rang up a solid 99. It also non magnetic. Which rules out iron meteorite, wondering if it could be nickel and something else.
