Tractor rebuild (SHE RUNS!!!!!!!!)

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

Starting to put things back together. Got the radiator mounted, new o-rings put in the hydraulic lines and set the gas tank on it's bracket. Still need a few gauges for the dash. We're staying with the 6-volt system for now but will be replacing all of the wiring, voltage regulator etc. Will probably get a new front tire for it and a steering wheel.

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

Looks great, PB!

6V will require heavier gauge wire than 12v system. Then again, there's not so many wires on a tractor!

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

It is lookin purtier and purtier I cant wait to see her done and runnin!

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

Wow, that is a lot of work. Thanks for posting the pictures of your progress on your rebuild.

I have an 800 series 1950's era Ford that I hope to eventually do the same to it. My tractor used to be my dad's and at one time it had a diesel motor. That motor went bad and dad and I put in a Ford gas engine that came from a combine. Dad said with the diesel motor it would run all day on a tank of fuel but with the gas he had to fill it three times a day to get the same work out of it.

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

that is really turning out great

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

Looks like it is coming along very nicely. It is looking great. Can't wait to see it running down the road. Please keep us updated. You have put a lot of time and effort into it and it shows. Keep up the great work.

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

Packerbacker,

Whatcha gonna do with it when you finish. Keep it or Sell it?

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

Well Ricky, when all of this started we were just going to get the engine running better; number 4 wasn't firing. Then it snowballed into this project. Glad it was only 1 piston. ;D A lot of houses border the property and it had been used cutting firebreaks along the fencelines but then, it started running badly and the hydraulics quit working so it just sat. My son ended up mounting a spray rig on the back of his quad and he would spray the fencelines with Roundup. It will be nice to start using the tractor again and avoid the chemical sprays. Thing is, we have really enjoyed fixing this thing up. A couple days ago my son and I were working on it and he turned to me with a grin on his face and said, "Hey, you wanna get another one?". Who knows, we may start fixing them up for fun and then selling them so we can buy more.

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

At one time, it was a 'must have' for the 'boutique ranchers' on their newly purchased plots in the outlying areas.

Not sure how the market is, today.

Still, if you can find the right niche to advertise in, I'll bet you could do well.

Good luck!

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

Well in places that have a lot of fires (CA) for an example some of those people with rolling ladscapes might keep you in a big business, the price for them would be great to be able to save there homes and maybe in CO too!

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

Here are the latest pics. Except for the lights, ALL of the wiring has been replaced with new. Still need to put the shrink-wrap around it to make things a bit neater. Got another gauge installed, a new key ignition and push-button starter. Also got a new voltage regulator. Still need to install the hour meter and tachometer. Getting VERY close now. Got a little cold for JD (Jack Daniels) so we made him comfy by the fire. He's only about 9 weeks old.

Re: Tractor rebuild (getting closer)

packerbacker, i am not trying to hi-jack your thread.
mg dont know if you have seen or ever heard of this brand, what little i know is it was built by jaques saw and tractor co in i believe dennison tx, i would have to go look at the tag on it. it has a jeep trans and looks like a jeep steering wheel on it and had a b/s engine on it, i drove it in the 4th of july parade and allmost messed up the clutch, it is just sitting now, will start again on it soon.
hope you enjoy the pics
