When we first got this house she said I could have this one little corner of it for my computer desk,which led to me putting up a couple of shelves for a train or two. Well if you know anything about the railroad you know they are always looking to expand so over the past few years the original couple of shelves have expanded to include new routes and lines,sure we have had to overcome a few obstacles(walls,corners,building over and around a computer moniter,washer dryer ect..)the culmination coming when she went out of town for a few days. I contacted a buddy of mine who himself is in charge of some n scale railroad engineering projects. He showed up just after I dropped her off at the airport and the rail was expanded through a couple of different walls offering rail service to little people on that sied of the house who never dreamed that maybe one day they too could enjoy all the benefits that the rail provides.

In the next pics you can really see all the work my chinese laborers had to endure to bring the dream of the rail to those less fortunate in my kitchen and laundry room. The last pic is my cabinet full of pre-war projects that I intend to work on when Im too old to do much else,hope you enjoy the post :}

8) Shootist: Real Nice Set-up! Always wanted one! What's your Oldest Piece?

Joe

Ive got a couple of pretty old Ives things that are from around 1915 or so,have several Lionel that are 20-30s,I like the pre-war tin plate stuff the best,getting tougher to find though,an old beat up car with pieces missing goes for 20-25 bucks,the sky is the limit from there.

That is one nice collection ! I like the way thought of those less fortunate riders in other parts of the house. ;D Thanks for sharing.

Nice train collection Shootist. You and my cousin would have a good time. My cousin laced his entire house with trains. From when he was young until now at 38 years old.

At Christmas he pulles out all the stocks to say. He has shelves all over the house and he puts out all the track. He stacks the presents like tunnels and lets the train go. Last year he put up extra shelfs. It took 15 mins for his train to make one trip. And he's got a 3 bedroom one story home.

Thanks for sharing that collection,

That is one beautiful collection you have. I think it was very cool to bring the railroad to people living in the other side of the house. You and your buddy did a super duper job.

Thanks for the comments guys,I do love trains. Postal I think me and your cousin would really hit it off,I would love to see some pics of his layout if you are over there for the holidays...Shoot

I understand the work involved!My son,who is 44,has me building a HO layout that encompasses a14X12 room.He is going with Rock Island exclusively and DCC.It's not half done yet.The modern city will even have a mono-rail running around it out to the airport area where a truckstop and a motel will be then it translates to the wilderness with the mts and river/waterfall,camping area,then on to the 40's area town then down thru the grain elevators to the yard and engine house and then back via another bridge to the modern city.So far it has 31 switches to route them up/down/around/thru/across/over/under and every other way. He has 10 trains currently and all the accessories.Just waiting on me!I figure at least another year to finish as I am no model builder.Pray for me! It's not ready for pics quite yet.

Simply incredible! I never got my N-Scale past the blue foam stage. Still looks the same after 8 years. My brother lives there now,and never even goes in that room.
I moved, and just figured I would build another one here. Money ran out. Girlfriend claimed ALL the SPACE ! [black and white cows, carasales, and fairies EVERYWHERE]
The picture with the "background" was just a sunset I found on-line, and did in Photoshop.
Seeing yours makes me miss mine!

warsawdaddy, it sounds like yours is going to be amazing, too! (I'm 42, and know I would have wanted my father to help me build mine, if he hadn't passed away from cancer when I was 11) We did build a 4X8 HO layout when I was around 8. Good memories.
