I bet a good fanny pack would do just find, if saltwater maybe try an find 1 with plastic zippers. I have seen some with 2-3 comparments an this would be good to keep coins an rings seperate

Here is a link for a nice site that has waterproof items including fanny packs, although the packs are not recommended for prolong submersion like snorkeling. The small cases are nice for storing your car keys, money, ect while hunting in the water.

You can make your own with a small sheet of vinyl. Fold it over for belt loops and the deep pockets and sew. If you can't sew, get a girl friend. However, that may be more expensive than buying a fanny pack.

May be more ? LOL $7.99-$35 for fanny pouch vs $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for a girlfriend! LOL Cost more for the first date. ;D

Yeah, girl friends cost $$$$$$$$$$ an I think the parasites are worth it. LOL

I just use a cheap nail apron. You can pick one up at any lumber or home imrovement place for just a few bucks. Add some beat up bubble wrap and duct tape to your detector and youll look suitably raggedy, so as to attract little of the wrong sort of attention.

For the really nice tickets that I constantly find ;) - I use a deep pocket and get em in there quick. None of that standing around on the beach admiring your finds or whooping real loud when you realize what you've got. AS some have noted in the past, many folks on the beach are watching you:

1. There isnt much else to do on the beach but look at people.
2. Some have felonious designs and so are naturally attraactd to you.

Plan ahead and have a quickie, secure stash spot - then unceremoniously pocket your goodies and get back to work you old surf pirate....

I took a small sports cooler drink bottle, cut an X in the bottom, cut slits in the side to hang from my belt upside down and that is where I put all my keepers now. They are safe, and easy to get to, you just unscrew the top and out they fall. The bottle has the pull up top to drink from and I leave it open to drain the water when I am chest deep at the beach. Bottle was a give away at greybar, so it cost me nothing to get, free.... ;D

All cuts have a small hole at the end of the cut to keep the cut from becoming any bigger.

It was not my idea, I got it from another post on here months ago, I just decided to do it one day when I was at greybar and saw the free sports drink bottle.

I did come across a gentleman on Ebay who custom made hunting bags and I got him to make me one for water hunting that has finds bag made from very heavy duty mesh, a hidden pouch inside of it and a detachable heavy mesh trash bag, it is held on by Velcro and snaps, it is very convenient to empty my trash at the end of the hunt, I just detach it empty and reattach it.....

I like the bottle finds keeper. I guess you use one with a largish opening, so things will actually dump out, right?

Yes the mouth has a large opening. It is the same kind of sports bottle you hang on your bike when you go riding. I made it after remembering one being posted on a thread here. Since the bottle was free as a give away it worked out the total project cost me a grand total of $ zilch.

I made one of your "keeper bottles" today from a rectangular bottle I had lying around the cabin. I followed your tips and just drilled a few holes in the plastic screw top for drainage.

It slips nicely onto the belt strap of my waist/trash pouch and lies flat, since its rectangular. It is made from heavy plastic and is pretty tough. The bottle is on one side of the pouch and my multi-tool/knife pouch is on the other. It should do the job and can't wait to try it.

Here's some pics:

Looks good, should work perfectly. I have found that I like mine better then the water pouch and it is very easy to see my good finds quickly at the end of the hunt.

Cool. Ill let you know how it works out. Thanks for the idea.

Just so no one is offended. I got the idea from a post on TN, it is not an original idea from me. I just remembered the original post when I was given the free sports bottles and decided to make up a couple of them.

I gave one to DR who I hunt with frequently. Looks like he is going to need it with all the nice targets he is finding lately.

That's okay - I appeciate your integrity. We all stand on the shoulders of others at one time or another, and I heard it from you first, so that counts.

Thanks again, though, for setting it straight.
