Travel Scoop?

I have been looking for a new beach scoop. I am not sure if I will ever travel with the scoop or not, but how do the break down scoops hold up? OR should I get a solid handle one? I looked at a break down and felt that little bit of loosness where the break was and then backed off until I can get some opinions.

I see the sun spot scoops and look pretty nice, but a few bucks. Any and all opinions would be great on the quality and durability of the break downs. Thanks!

Most of the break down scoops are for the light dry sand sifting. If they aren't taken down all the time they can freeze up. The Sunspots say they are break down, and this only means the wood handle can be removed and you can buy a new handle when you get where ever your going. The handle is about five foot high. Or 5' long laying down for you newbies.

FYI, the beach brute II will break down, need a standard size suitcase, but handle does break down into 2 pieces.

My is like 40" long and I just put it in a carry on bag with the handle hanging out at the top and put it in the overhead storage space.....Matt

Have been using the same break-down stainless steel scoop for the last 9 years. I hunt the upper midwest in mud and rocks and it has held up great. 90 gold last year, so you can imagine how many junk targets in the ol' scoop. Reilly's makes a great S/S scoop, I prefer the 1/2" holes in mine.

My neighbor/huntin buddy has the rileys break down model... built very well, but replace the pin with a lock nut and bolt. It is plenty sturdy... I am ordering a rtg royal, I like the 5/8ths holes ya can always add some hardware cloth to make the holes smaller, but hard to make bigger.

I recently got the dayln travel scoop. Having bent and broke most things claiming to be sturdy, durable and so on. I am really impressed with this product. The bucket is about 3/32 thick SS, and slightly pointed. Great for digging in. The handle is 49 inches long, yes as the writer mentioned there is the slightest wiggle to the joint in the handle, but that's better than too tight and becomming stuck. This one also has 5/8 inch holes.
I like it, and would recommend it to anyone.
