Well Kind of.
Drugs wash ashore in S. Brevard
Two friends walking along Floridana Beach this morning stumbled upon a load of cocaine.
Lena McAneney said she and her friend found a box stuffed with 20 taped-up packages of cocaine. McAneny, co-owner with her husband Joe of the Main Street Pub in downtown Melbourne, said the find frightened her.
"It's scary — there's people looking for it," she said. "People die for stuff like this."
Brevard County Sheriff's Offfice spokesman Andrew Walters confirmed the find this afternoon.
McAneney said she immediately called the police to come get it. "I feel good that it's off the street, too."
McAneney joked that photographs she and her husband took with the stash will likely be their Christmas card picture.
"We have ornaments of sea turtles — now we're going to make some of kilos," she laughed.
Police estimated the drug's weight at 27 kilos and its street value at $600,000.
