Does anyone know what this is? My wife and I were on a beach walk in the vicinity of one of the 1715 fleet wrecks and found this in a cut. Anyone have any idea what it is? They are green with a light behind them. IMG_2578.webpIMG_2577.webp

Some pictures wet. IMG_2587.webpIMG_2588.webpIMG_2589.webp

No one?? That’s surprising!

I know what your thinking......emeralds !! But I dont see that hex shape of the emerald crystal. Might be a piece o beach worn green terrazzo. But I could be way off. I'm crossing my fingers for you buddy !!

I really don’t know. I wish it was but who knows

I have seen similar beach conglomerate with white and pink stone. There is a forum here to post rock ID picture questions, you might try a jeweler or local rock club? If you figure it out, please let us know. It is a very nice find. Supposedly there are ancient peat deposits east of Florida.

Will an edge scratch a piece of glass? Start there. Emerald (beryl) had a hardness of "8" and glass about "5.5". If you have a quartz crystal, see if the green will scratch that. Quartz is a "7" on the scale. That will give you a much better idea.

Thanks I’ll give it a try
