I will be heading down to that area in a week. Do you think that the sand will be back in then?? I will try it anyway just for fun and maybe head to the Gulf coast later in the week. I plan to be there about the 10th of Nov. so if anyone needs a partner for a day or two let me know!

Kam,

Most likely when you come down in a week, more sand would have come off the beach.Theres not much our foolish government can do right now to pump more sand on the beach due to desperate beach front owners whining that thier property is about to fall in the ocean. One can only hope that the gov doesnt spend any more money on this futile attempt at saveing property that is destined to be part of the ocean.Maybe after miles and miles of high rise condos fall into the ocean will they realize that trying to save them so they can get more tax money from the public is a waste of time. Those people that live there will just have to move further inland. But in due time once again wherever they go,that property will soon be oceanfront property too. That movie "waterworld" was great!

I noticed the same thing when I visited Ft. Pierce. The beachfront condos sold to Yankees who have never been in a hurricane. The old Florida families have their homes on the ridge on the *land side* of the Intracostal Waterway.

It would be cheaper for us.....if we relocated the beach front property owners away from the barrier Islands and let Mother Nature do what she knows is best, and that is create a reef out of their properties...the property owners could be given the option to add their names to a bronze plate which would be affixed to the new reef in honor of them. So many newly named reefs could be so refreshing.

I am sure they would be happy with River front property...or maybe Okeechobee lake? the water never hits the dune there ;D :D ;)

the ocean breeze (oops). I mean river front breeze may be a few degrees warmer, so their ceiling fans may need to go up a speed or two...oh no !!! that would cost "them" more money...can't have that.

Please just a few more feet...SPLASH !!! ... owe my go(d) Gosh PC-correct...did anyone notice if Jim Cantore got off the dune before the condo fell...Final episode of Storm Stories

aarrrrggghhh,

Just dont dare say the oceans are rising! Most of inland Florida is also low lying and will be at risk of flooding and salt water is entering the underground fresh waterwells. The beach is just the first to go. I dont believe it is as simple as moving the beach line. I dont know the answer. Can we stop warming of the earth?
