Found this neat accordion today. It was in a leather case in a trash pile on the side of the road.
Works really good, and it looks really well made. I think I will learn how to play it.
It was made by the "Galanti" company in Italy. Probably from the 1920's or 1930's.
Sounds really cool - like Davy Jones' Pipe Organ from Pirates of the Caribbean. The first accordion I've ever got my hands on.
Maybe worth something too? :blackbeard: - Argh!

I am sure you will have fun learning to play that thing :laughing7:
It looks in good shape,

That's pretty cool. About once a year I see one of them at an estate auction or antique auction, and they are always bought by the amish. I guess they still use them?!?!?

From trash to Treasure. Great Recovery!!

Just curious, how can you tell when an item in the trash is actually something good or do you just look through all of it?

When you see something that looks valuable in a pile of trash just check it out. Half the time it's just junk, but half the time it will be something nice.
Here is a picture I took of the pile of trash that has so far given me a several-hundred-dollar Italian accordion and will hopefully give me even more treasures as I take the time to look through everything.
Pretty much every single thing pictured I tossed in my truck, including that leather case which had the accordion in it. Also you can't see it but there is a "For Sale" sign in front of the property. This is a good thing to look out for as it means the homeowner is likely removing (or disposing of) the entire contents of the house. Those trash bags don't contain garbage, just by shaking them a bit you can hear trinkets and household things rattling around inside.

I picked up an accordion that was thrown away once just because I thought it was neat. Sold it on ebay for 1200 dollars.:occasion14:

Amazing score! I specialize in every conceivable form of treasure hunting and "curb hunting" is my second favorite form after metal detecting.
There are things people throw away that would make antique dealers, historians, and treasure enthusiasts like us weep for days.
Just glad there are people like us out there that rescue these things every now and then.

Thats a darn good find. Now go buy a lottery ticket!

Great save! It looks like it is very well made and cared for, probably worth a good mount!

WOW! That is pretty cool! Don't know what it is worth, but research it. Plenty of Cajuns play accordions as well!

its amazing at what people condemn as trash at time(s) ... nice score tho ....

That's just to cool , some people have all the luck. lol . Great find.

Nice find. I only had a minute to look but some "vintage" galanti accordions were $300 to $500 at least! [emoji2]

That is a beautiful old instrument! Very nice save!

Nice find! You could probably get a fair amount for it around here, accordions are pretty popular around these parts
