Ditto Bill!
Thanks Max for the reply. Now NOT to put YOU into the "skeptics" seat here, but we know that brain waves (thoughts) are very
real electrical impulses which can be detected, measured and "graphed" on medical devices such as the electro-encephalograph (EEG for short) - so the debunker has a real problem in "proving" that we don't have brain waves!

As to proving that human brain wave activity can affect the physical environment - that would be difficult, probably impossible to prove to a debunker. I am reminded of Yuri Geller for one example of a person who claimed to be able to do things by mind control alone.
I remember watching "The Amazing Kreskin" and his mental tricks, sometimes he could be pretty amazing indeed - and not to sound like the skeptic myself but there are times when I have suspected that some of these "professional" psychics, you know the type that has television shows where they claim to be talking with the dead etc - may simply be picking up on the thoughts of the people present - how could we tell the difference? For example, the "psychic" comes up with the name of a deceased loved one, which the person (not-psychic) instantly recognizes, because it is a part of their memories and thoughts.
A side "discovery" of a scientific investigation of a "paranormal" phenomenon known as the "UFO abduction" victims done by a major university shows what can result when serious science actually
investigates (NOT simply try to "
debunk") unknown phenomena - they had an experiment in which the test subject was fitted with a helmet that had a number of small electrodes (electromagnets actually) that were connected to a computer; the computer then simulated the brain pattern of another human being, activating the electromagnets sequentially to mimick the pattern. While the experiment was intended to cause a reaction in the subject person identical to those reported by UFO abductees, the odd thing was that
they reported "sensing" that another person was present even though they were blindfolded in a darkened room, with NO sound to indicate the presence of another person! This proved that a human being actually CAN "
detect" (
sense, really) the presence of another human being, by their
brain activity alone!
Strange, no? It sure reminded ME of those incidents when we get that feeling that we are "being watched" by someone, look around and find that indeed, someone
IS watching us!
This is a part of the reason why I continue to hold out hope that a serious scientific study
could be done on dowsing, without the test operators being
pre-biased for it to "fail" and open to actually investigate the ancient ART of dowsing. It seems when ever we get someone who
claims to be a serious scientist willing to investigate it, test it, etc in reality we have yet another debunker, out on some kind of personal crusade to "prove" that it "doesn't work".
