brought up the 2 pdf below, seems someone else is/was looking
for the files in 2016, the (b) (6) is a redaction sighting Private Citizen
wonder if the "Department of Treasure Trove"(1941/42), can be viewed
in person

The department of treasury has a library.

Members of the public are welcome to make an appointment to research using Treasury Library holdings in the Treasury Library. All visitors to the Treasury Library must be cleared by the Secret Service. This process requires that requests for appointments must be made at least one business day before a visit.

When Terry and his friend went there and were let in, it was back in the 70's, he was surprised they got permission before they flew out from Wisconsin. This was before things were uploaded online. Of course they had someone in the room with them the whole time. The Harpers article was published around 1946 or so. Most were from people and dated over a certain year period. I probably need to get more Trove videos done.

Of course if you read Terry's "In Search of Treasure," series he will tell you the exact article. I might have included it in the video also.

I just found a source to an old Wyoming lost treasure lead covered by three different authors besides myself. It was in a book I read many times and only seen it this time. The book was by Terry and the chapter is about the files in Washington.

Another update to the kingbolt story! I was reading a copy of "More Doubloons & Other Buried Treasure," 1970 Thomas P Terry and on page 24 there it was. In a letter in the Washington D.C. Treasury Dept. In what I call the treasure trove files, in 1928 from W.A. Fleming mailed from Slayer, Wyoming it tells of $40,000 from a stage robbery buried 200 feet from the trail and marked with a kingpin. Years later robbers son plowed up the bolt and wants someone to come help retrieve the treasure.

They were written letters sent in. There ended up being a form letter by the Government that stated they weren't in the business of hunting buried treasure. See if you can find the form letter.
