On my own today for 4 hours.
Tried a couple of new fields which were long stubble & sprayed off (dead grass), it was near impoosible to work & I could only hover 4 inches off the ground. Some places were better than others, but I did luck out a Roman Fibula (got a nice bit of blue enamel on the end, but badly bent) & a late/post Medieval Dagger Guard;

Mine is only similar to this & broken in half.

Moved to a nearby game strip which we had done last year but it was perfectly flat plus the crop had failed.
Got a nice Tudor Button, 1 scrappy Roman Coin & a plain Medieval strapend.

Overall I'm happy enough with my little effort. :icon_thumright:

Yeap only 1, I was not in a Roman area but 1/2 a mile between 2 sites. Didn't expect any today, both the Fibula & coin were random losses, probably by people travelling between the 2 sites :wink: (I might get 5 tomorrow)

I'd love to get an enamelled brooch! Good effort :icon_thumleft:

Good luck today in this heat :o

I won't enjoy the heat but as I'm leaving later than usual, I'm worried the ground will dry out. I'm going back over a small area we did last year & with out a little extra depth I may get very little. I should get about 5 scrappies, all helps this time of year. I will be looking at the Barley soon for signs of harvesting (fingers crossed)...

Alot better than sitting at home waiting till harvest time. I wish i had some of Your worse fields....

These aren't quite the worst but if they were, & the only choice then your right, I would be out there.
