I normally search half rolls, but decided to try the nickels and had some interesting results. The most surprising find was a full date 1936D buffalo nickel. I ended up with:

1936D buff
2 war nicks (43P & 45P)
12 various from 1940 - 1955
1994 Canadian nick

I like to try to set goals for myself as it helps to motivate me to continue searching. I have a current goal to find 100 1974D double die halves, and I am currently at 89 (11 to go). I thihk I will now have a nickel goal of finding 100 war nicks. I only have 4 right now from my hit and miss searches with the nickels, so this will give me the motivation to hit them a little harder.

Those are great results Wayne! $1000's in nickels and I haven't found a buffalo yet this year. 100 war nickels is a good goal. My best in one year was 60. Now if you could find 100 buffalos that would be something...

I snagged a 1904 Liberty nickel in change a few weeks ago. and I managed to pop a war nickel from a Coinstar machine while I was passing by. It rejected it.

I have searched $2,298 in nickels so far this year with some nice results in my opinion.

21 Silver War Nickels
29 Foreign Nickels
5 Buffalo Nickels
2 Proof Nickels

I don't keep track of the regular dates, but I can say that I have found every date at least once except for the infamous 1950D.

Has anyone found a 1950D yet?

Over the years I've found three 50-D's but none so far this year.

Hi gang,

Mintage on the 1950-D nickels is 2,630,030.
A small run. That is why they are so hard to find.

Keep up the good work !!!
