Tried river detecting / dry sand yesterday found a "merc", & a Navy Cross ( replica)
Hi
Once in a while I like to travel to Northen Ct to cool off in the refreshing rivers there.
I like a particular shallow river because I can get out waist deep without fear. At the ocean it's only knee deep detecting for me.
Anyway, although nothing much to "crow about", I was happy to pull out a "merc" , and
Voila!.....finally a silver coin with no tarnish on it as is found in the salt water. Don't have to clean up this one.
Also found a replica of a Navy Cross... love finding anything related to the Armed Forces.
Here's a few pics , and a link to info to the history and significance of a Navy Cross medallion.
Thanks for looking
