Folks,
Hit the century old site again for a lunch break session. I doubled my Indian Head cent count for my career by finding three today: 1905, 1907 and I believe 1908. I also found a 1920 wheat. The nickel in the picture is a 1973. I included it just to show how much corrosion comes from the field fertilizer on these coins. Incidentally, I tried to clean the IH's and made them worse by wiping away the patina and much of the details. I was surprised how good they looked coming out of the ground but alas they were corroded worse than I thought and could not be cleaned well. I also found the pocket knife.
I must confess, if I wasn't hunting a field, I probably wouldn't have dug the IH's. I wonder how many IH's I've had under my coil and never stopped to dig!?! BTW, the field was a park in 1900.
HH everyone!
Peace,
T-man
