All Treasure Hunting
I just got back from a week long trip to Northern Indiana to visit relatives in my hometown. I took my detector of course, and was able to squeeze in a few short hunts.

I stopped by a house I grew up in back in the 60’s-early 70’s as a kid. I only had about 45 minutes as my wife was in my truck waiting to go to the casino. I had dug up some of my childhood toys here on a previous hunt last year which was pretty cool. I detected our old baseball field this time and ran across a hot spot of old hood ornaments. Not sure how they got there, but I dug them all in a 10’ x 20’ area. My only other find there was a “Cub Power” (Chicago Cubs) pin.

The second hunt was at an old farmhouse out in the country on Saturday. I had a few hours to detect this place and found a few things. No silver coins though.
My best find was a “sterling” silver Cub Scout ring.
Other finds included:
*Old button – Age?
*”I Like Ike” medallion
*”ALASKA” tag
*Old lid with “John H. Wooc???" on it –*SOLVED below by Breezie
*Steel case “Winchester No. 10” shotgun shell – Age?
*A White House token
*3 – Tex-A-Toy quarter play tokens dated “1954”
*11 – Wheat pennies (oldest one is 1934)
*Harmonica reed, Heart pet tag, Bracelet w/name scratched into it, Lantern piece, Small buckles, “Texas” cap gun.

Nothing earth shattering as you can see.

Thanks for looking,
MM

Some good finds there Jack Wagon!! There's a lot of that family's history there. The Cub Scout ring is my favorite. Dman dug a Cub Scout ring one time while we hunted a CW site. WTG, Q.

Thanks Q. I found the perfect t-shirt at Goodwill for Dman. It says "International Man of Pleasure". :laughing7:

Breezie,
You're the BEST! We can mark that mystery as "solved".
Thanks so much,
Doug

Thanks Dawg. I was thinking about selling those hood ornaments to some rap star to wear. Maybe "Papa Cap" or Shaved Ice" would be interested.:tongue3:
WORD!

Circa 1986 or so, the "musical group..." Beastie Boys started the whole "wear a stolen hood ornament as a pendant" fad with one of their videos. Great hunt! Sub 8-)

When I was 9 or 10, I would sleep over at a friends house and we would sneak out and be hoodlums at night. One night we stole a dozen or more hood ornaments. We buried them in a nearby park (1970s). Wonder if anyone ever found them?

Interesting hood ornaments. If you found all that with limited time that is awesome!

Those are some nice keepers. I like the I like Ike button and I like you also.

Thanks for the replies Folks. I was hoping some of those hood ornaments would be still connected to the cars, but no such luck. :tongue3:

I lost that EXACT style of Cub Scout ring in 1965 on my parents property in N. Cal. I have been swinging my coil since 1966 trying to find it.
Anyway, sounds like you have had a couple of nice hunts recently. And thanks for posting the pictures too. Geologyjohn

Thanks John.
Swinging your coil since 1966? Were detectors made out of dinosaur bones back then?:dontknow::tongue3: Just kidding.
I didn't even know they made silver Cub Scout rings. My Mom was a den mother when my brother and I were in the Cub Scouts in the late 60's. Great times.
