I haven't had time to post anything in a while due to work and a 1 year old keeping me busy. Aside from that I haven't found anything worth posting when I did get a chance to get out. I spent Easter in Berks County PA at the in-laws. Their house was built in the 1860's and my wifes family also owns 5 acres that has an 1820's home still standing plus the old grist mill out back. I brought the new SE Pro with me on the airplane and hit the ground running when I got there.
About a year ago I hunted every square inch of the in-laws front yard with my previous detector. I found three Wheaties from the 1930's and a 1942 Merc. I searched the exact same area with the SE and pulled a 1945 Half and ten Wheats. I can't say enough good things about the SE and how it performed
On Monday I spent 8 solid hours at the 1820 house. It was the last day of our trip so I didn't even take a break to eat. The temp was 29 when I got out there and warmed up to around 50 degrees by 1pm. I found the usual junk and misc items until I hit the original driveway and front yard. The front yard was covered in dead bamboo, or at least it looked like bamboo, so I proceeded to stomp it all down and throw it to the side. It took 45 minutes but it was well worth it. My first signal was 00 31 and deep. It was a half dollar sized silver New Jersey Weights & Measures token. I didn't take a photo because it is pretty beat up. After that I pulled a nice 1886 Injun, an 1810 LC (first one ever for me), a 1945 Merc, and a 1916 "S" Merc. The last item I found worth mentioning was some sort of buckle(can anyone ID the buckle?). It was deep and next to the largest oak tree I've ever seen. Sorry for the lousy photos. Thanks for looking.
