It was a bit chilly on Saturday morning, when TNet member Todd Lipe showed up around 8:30AM. We headed out to a local school to meet some other hunters... Shovelnose, Smittyman and two others. After a little hunting, Todd and I decided to head to lunch and another less crowed spot. We went to lunch, then off to a spot that Todd had secured for us. Old house with maintained grass and big trees.

I got out of the truck, turned on the Deus... first target zincoln, second target 1899 IHC! Only the 4th one that I have ever found. The coin did not circulate much before it was lost, the reverse is in really nice shape. I had not been there 5 minutes!

I searched along for about 20 minutes, a little clad, a wheatie, suddenly a nice high tone, I dig a plug and stuck to the bottom is a silver disc... '51 quarter. The ground was really black, and that disc was silvery white, what a contrast.

I continue along in the back yard, I get a weird broken high tone, dig a plug, and out comes a Lincoln cent. I could hardly believe that was what I heard, another scan, nice clean high tone this time. I dig a little more and a '64 Rosie pops out. I fill the hole, stand up, swing over the area, and maybe 6" away... another high tone. I dig a plug, and another '64 Rosie shows up.

A Tootsie Toy jeep showed up a little later too.

In less than 2 hours, I dug four keeper coins. That is about the best that I have ever done.

YTD silver coins #48, #49 & #50.

Thanks for looking, and best of luck on your hunts!

Well you did it! 50 silver coins your first year of metal detecting. Couldn't be happier for you, Tom.

Thanks Jay. You have also done very well your first year.

I was really excited about reaching the 50 mark. It took less than 8 months from the first silver to the 50th. Hopefully there will be a few more silvers in the month of December.

Hope to see you soon. GL&HH!

Great job CT! You blew me away on the silver totals. That's impressive. If you do that every year for the rest of your life you'll have quite the little collection. Keep up the good work buddy

Great job Tom! You blew me away on silvers also. I think I came home with 23, and #24 was a SLQ that I lost somehow, lol. For some reason, when I find Rosies, they are usually a '64.
Msbeepbeep just reminded me I forgot to tell you how much I like the jeep pic with the coins lol.

I love it! A jeep full of silver and an IH! All your coins have great detail!

Nice finds bud! How'd you clean the IH?

Drive that thing right to the bank!

Great day

I used hot peroxide and .... drum roll please... a brass wire brush! I know that the purist will cringe when they hear that, but I was really gentle and just used it to knock the black corrosion off of the coin after peroxide soaking. The face (obverse) was a bit corroded, but other than that, the coin was very solid and cleaned up well IMO.

Nice coin finds Tom...

A great day for you indeed! You found more than the other five of us combined! Like the Jeep full of loot.

Any day with silver is awesome congrats.

Thanks Smittyman. It was a very good day for me. Three silvers and an IHC, that's about the best that I have ever done in one day. I will see you later in the week. GL&HH!

Great hunt, great finds, I too like that jeep full of old coins. Word on the street says that your a real looker ( beez)
I bet you got excited when you got that signal for the jeep, I bet you thought you were digging another quarter.

Thanks Treb. It was a very good hunt for me. I dug 4 Matchbox/ Hotwheels cars that day too, and they all sounded like quarters... full date SLQs to be exact, however, upon retrieval they were all just modern toy cars... dang.

Compared to Smittyman and Beez, I am quite the looker.

Modest too!
I know what you mean Tom, I too am quite the handsome man, piercing blue eyes and built like a bear. I was told I was in great shape (pear shape)

Round is a shape!

Great day for silvers.

That's a very good day in my world - silver quarters are turning into a tough find ! (and IH's are very elusive to me )
