All Treasure Hunting
A repeat performance is about to happen just like it did in April, 1861. The weather guys are tracking Tropical Storm 2 Bertha which will inundate the Mississippi gulf coast like it did when Johnson Kelly Duncan tried to go from New Orleans East thru Pass Christian, Mississippi. His wagon contained 15,000+ 1861 $y20 minted at the New Orleans mint and the area was impassible! Duncan was trying to get the gold to a safe spot for the Confederacy.
He was forced to bury it and to return when things dried out. He never was able to return and was captured.

A young Choctaw Indian boy saw him bury the gold coins near Harbour Drive. That boy at the age of 99 told us a story one night about what he saw that day long ago.
A chest was buried near what later became Harbour Drive. That Indian’s name was Favre, and he had lived there all his life.

The New Orleans Mint Treasure story was real and based on the records from Ft. Worth.

At 87 I am getting old for treasure hunting, but I believe in the facts which came from years of research.

And maybe Bertha will show how Mother
Nature puts a stop on people trying to get through the area around Pass Christian?

Watch your news in 2026! Just like in 1861!

It’s an interesting story, but it’s just a story. Considering only 17,741 were struck in total, how did Duncan manage to have nearly the total production in his wagon? Also, the “chest” that the coins were buried in would weigh over 1000lbs.
