Hey all,

New to the Treasurenet site and a beginner at Metal Detecting just this year. I recently started cruising through the CRH forums and decided I will dive in especially this winter. I have long been dabbling with collecting coins as I came across them so I think, sounds like fun.

Anyway, while reading all of your ideas and schemes to get the best rolls of coins i thought I would mention Truckstops. I used to work in a truckstop for several years as a manager. The amount of cash that goes through the cashiers every night is unbelievable. I set back a decent amount of both coin and older paper currency while working there. Get to know a cashier or a shift manager that has to count the safe each night, I am sure you can get your hands on some nice coins!!

Just a tip from a noobie!

Cool, thanks! I travel a lot so I might just start making some relationships

Way to contribute good ideas to the forum! Worth a shot!

I appreciate your post! I drive about 300 miles every night for work and there are a few truck stops along my route. I hit one up tonight to give it a shot. They said they do get half dollars and silver dollars but didn't have any today. I did pick up two 2 dollar bills that she had though. I don't collect these but I just wanted to see how old they were. One of them was from 1953. Still pretty cool! Thanks!

Red Seal, I would keep that one.

What do you mean by red seal? I don't know much of anything about paper money.

Lol, you really have to watch how you use the term "RELATIONSHIP" in a truckstop. But am glad i could help with an idea or two!

The seal on the right side of the bill is red. That's what a red seal is. I think it's the department of the Treasury's seal (I think.)

Did you have any luck at the truckstop?? Just stop in and grab a cup of coffee every night, eventually you'll be a regular. They love having someone to talk to also.

Welcome to tnet Indy. You are right that crh is fun. I to have had a lifetime interest in coins and it's great to pick up silver and old coin for face. Wanting to start md myself. Trying to decide which detector to get.
