Trying to figure out when this was made

I found this knife yesterday in a woods hunting in relic mode with my V3i and it's in really good shape, I've been trying to research to find out anything I could about the serial number to see approximately when this was made but I haven't had any luck yet. All the new ones with this model number "40230" have no serial number plus the blade on them is 5 inches whereas the one I found has a 5 1/2" blade, any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks.

Its a skinning knife.In the 90's,I used to buy them by the case

I agree that it is a skinning knife. My beaver skinning knife is of a similar design.
