"This thing is all stone/carbide or whatever the heck it is. I found it in the creek below the narrow gauge railroad bed to the soapstone quarries at my old place. Any ideas? Number 14 on it."

Finding out the types of trains used at that quarry might identify, as Tpmetal suggested, it as some train part. By chance the “14” doesn’t pertain to its weight, does it?
