I found this button a couple months ago. Figured it was civillian. But, i keep seeing similar ones for sale as revolutionary war buttons? Anyone have any insight?

No, early civilian button, but a nice one.

Yes, years ago it was only the people who knew the military ones, that were selling the military ones... and now everything that is remotely close gets called a Lieutenants navy button.

nice colonial tombac button! civilian like you said, general date is around Rev War era, buttons like this were on waistcoats and jackets so it's possible it could be militia, but more likely just a normal person had this on their clothing.
