I keep on reading horror stories about this tumbler, so I will not get one. Maybe I'll modify a bingo tumbler, or something smaller that can be done by hand, or gerbil :laughing9:

I got mine from harbor freight about two weeks ago.
I agree two hours is plenty of time to get the dirt off.
I left my first batch in for twenty four hours and the
coins came out like new but they had a frosted look.
My first belt broke after about forty hours, it was
making a thumping sound like it was out of balance.
I took the cover off and the belt was attached by a
thin piece that was about to break. If you hear that
thumbing sound its probably about to break check it.
You can buy packs of belts on eBay, I went to one of
the harbor freight stores but they didn't have the belts.

I use aquarium gravel and liquid dish washing liquid.
The motor on mine gets hot also but the manual says it gets hot.
I have a separate shower and bathtub so I never use the tub, this
lets me put the tumbler in the bathtub in case it leaks, but it never has.
I noticed when I changed the belt it was a little tight so I loosened
the four bolts and re-adjusted it so it was looser and this belt has not
broken yet.

Thanks for the info. It came with an extra belt. It does do a great job in cleaning the clad in about 2 hours. It sure beats putting them in the folders the way they come out of the ground.

I have the double barrol "Chicago" brand tumbler I bought from Harbor. (There is a local Harbor store near my home). I have ran dozens of barrols of clad coins ( I have over $500 in clad you do the math) through it with no problems.

I use the gravel for fish tanks in it and a little dish soap, One barrol is for pennys and the other for all other coins. You don't really need to run it that long. I have had mine for about 18 months now and not a single problem with it....

If you spend a little more money on a tumbler(just a few dollars) at a rock shop then you will be getting a higher quality product.

I get some stuff at harbor Freight, but specialty items like tumblers are one of them.
